Obstacles That GE Crops Are Facing
GE Organisms Aren't Safe To Consume
There is a lot of biased researching going on with the big agricultural companies that are big on genetically engineering. For example, Monsanto, a big agricultural company, was selling glyphosate, which is a chemical that is found in RoundUp. RoundUp is one of the most frequently used herbicides on GMOs. Monsanto said that glyphosate is a safe product, however, WHO, the World Health Organization, has said that it is a probable carcinogen. Due to the fact that Monsanto had to pay a school groundskeeper $289 million when they got terminal cancer after just applying RoundUp to the school. E.3

Creating More Resistant Weeds
Genetically Modified Crops are reducing the use of herbicides. On the other hand, there is also an increase in herbicide-resistant weeds, because of the new genetically modified crops. In fact, genetically modified crops are being manufactured to be resistant to the herbicide, glyphosate. Which led to the increased herbicide usage of dicamba and 2,4-D. It has been shown that dicamba can damage crops. Also, 2,4-D has been related to neurological disorders and immune system problems and harms wildlife. These herbicides are being sprayed on the genetically modified crops that are in local stores. E.4

The Decision On Labeling GMOs
The public wants to have GMO labels on the products that they buy in stores. The people want to know what they are buying and what they are putting in their body. They don't want harmful substances like glyphosate in their foods. However big brand companies don't want to label GMOs. Some of these companies are Monsanto, DuPont, and Syngenta. These companies are all producers of GMO products. So they would not want to spend money on labeling and then have profits go down, because people see that it says GMO. E.7
