There is 37 billion acres of land on Earth, but only 37% of that land is agricultural and 11% of that land is used for crops. The population is growing and more land is being used. GMOs can help by providing more nutritional crops with higher yield percentages. This led to an increase in Bt crops over the years. H.3

Poverty And Hunger

Out of the 7.6 billion people in the world, about 815 million people or 1 in every 10 people are dealing with chronic undernourishment. Which is causing more people to die from hunger than they do to malaria, HIV/AIDS, and tuberculosis. This can be ended or at least lowered by using GMOs. H.5 H.6

Beneficial Traits Of GMOs

GMOs can be very beneficial by being herbicide resistant and insect resistant. These traits help the farmer keep more of their crops. Due to insects not eating the crops anymore, there will be more crops. Another example of saving money is being herbicide resistant. This causes the farmer to spend less money on herbicides. Farmers used 37% fewer pesticides, and 68% got a larger profit. Farmers who used insect resistant crops got 25% greater profit while using herbicide. H.9
